Bent Paddle to release Trampled By Turtles beer
You've seen Trampled By Turtles on stage, but now an IPA inspired by the locally-made band can be found on tap. Bent Paddle Brewing collaborated with the band to create Trampled Golden IPA, described as "a golden/straw color with a not-too-sweet malt profile ... dry-hopped for a fresh hop flavor at the end."
The beer makes its debut at the Trampled Beer Release Party at 5 p.m. July 5 at Grandma's Sports Garden and will be available in beer trailers at the band's show July 7 at Bayfront Festival Park. After the concert, it will be on tap at Grandma's Duluth area restaurants and bars and at the Bent Paddle taproom.
The band members were consulted about craft beer preferences, according to a news release from Bent Paddle, and co-founder Colin Mullen said both the beer and the band are balanced and in-tune. Trampled By Turtles was looking for a lower alcohol content — it's 4.6 percent abv according to co-founder Bryon Tonnis — something to enjoy while at a concert.
Trampled By Turtles, which last played here during a surprise show during Homegrown Music Festival, plays Bayfront as part of a full day of music. The lineup includes Bad Bad Hats, The Last Revel, Teague Alexy, Charlie Parr and Superior Siren.
