Woman arrested after alleged robbery, assault of elderly woman
A 23-year-old Virginia woman was arrested after allegedly breaking into a residence and assaulting a 75-year-old woman during a robbery Sunday night.
The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office reported that the suspect entered a residence on the 4000 block of County Road 7 at about 7 p.m. Sunday. The nature of the victim’s injuries and the items taken were not immediately disclosed by authorities.
The Sheriff’s Office reported that the suspect was the subject of a theft call at the Super America store in Cotton less than an hour before the robbery. A set of keys was reportedly stolen from the business.
A short time after the reportedly robbery, Eveleth police officers stopped the suspect vehicle at the intersection of County Road 7 and State Highway 37 in Iron. The woman was taken into custody on preliminary charges of first-degree aggravated robbery, fourth-degree assault on a law enforcement officer, fifth-degree assault, obstructing the legal process and theft.
