MnSure offers new online health insurance comparison plan tool

ST. PAUL  — Minnesotans can use a new online health insurance plan comparison tool offered by MNsure before its open enrollment period begins Nov. 1.

The tool allows eligible residents to compare plans by premium, co-pay, deductible, out-of-pocket maximum and covered prescriptions.

Also, the new tool helps Minnesotans determine if they are eligible for financial assistance, which could save thousands of dollars.

Individuals earning up to $48,560 a year, or a family of four earning up to $100,400 a year, could qualify for federal tax credits. Additional income guidelines are available on the MNsure website. Approximately 65 percent of current enrollees are receiving tax credits.

“Consumers should visit MNsure.org and use our new plan comparison tool to find the right plan for them and their families,” said MNsure CEO Nate Clark. “With rates declining across the state, we encourage Minnesotans to visit our website and see if they can save.”

The signup period runs through Jan. 13. Last year more than 480,000 Minnesotans used plans through MNsure.
