Midway Road to close Saturday at Maple Grove Road
Midway Road will close Saturday at the intersection with Maple Grove Road — the site of a $2.1 million roundabout installation, said a St. Louis County news release outlining the closure.
Northbound traffic will be detoured to U.S. Highway 2, Canosia Road and Minnesota Highway 194. Southbound traffic will be detoured to U.S. Highway 53, Lavaque Road and Highway 2. Large trucks will be detoured to Minnesota highways 33 and 2.
More than 9,000 vehicles travel on Midway Road every day, according to the news release.
“The roundabout is on schedule to be complete and roads reopened by Aug. 31,” said the county news release.
Maple Grove Road, which has been closed since mid-June for the project, will remain closed with detours posted.
This is the second roundabout built by St. Louis County Public Works, and the first in the Duluth and Hermantown area. A roundabout at the intersection of Highways 73 and 5 in Chisholm was completed last October.
