Candidate's View: Look at records to see who'll score for Iron Range
I will work for you, the good folks on the Iron Range.
A little bit about me: I have been married for 27 years, and I have three grown daughters. I have worked as an EMT/paramedic for 30 years. I currently am serving my third term in the Minnesota House.
Why should you vote for Jim Newberger? Because our current senator, Amy Klobuchar, has done nothing to help bring mining or Enbridge to the Iron Range. Her record proves this.
I have a solid voting record to prove I support the Iron Range. A few examples: I supported Duluth's upgrade to the central heating system. I supported improving the airports in Duluth and helping Cirrus Aircraft. I voted in favor of many bills and amendments to help PolyMet and Enbridge on the Iron Range. In fact, I was co-author of the most recent bill to help Enbridge. I personally testified before the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission in favor of building the new replacement oil pipeline.
I also authored two bills in 2015 and 2017 to fund the Emergency Response Team in Duluth. I brought together members from both sides of the aisle to get this done. You and your families are safer because of this.
Simply put, I care about the Iron Range. My six-year record proves it.
Our current senator, Amy Klobuchar, is like Lucy from the old comic strip, "Peanuts."
Every time Lucy would hold the football for Charlie Brown, she promised not to pull it away. Every time, Charlie Brown got his hopes up and charged at the ball, eager to kick a field goal. And every time, Lucy pulled the ball away at the very last moment, and Charlie Brown would crash.
Sen. Klobuchar has been in office for 12 years. She wants six more. That's 18 years. Every year she promises to help the Iron Range. Right now the score is Amy Klobuchar 12, Iron Range 0. Do you want the score to be Amy Klobuchar 18, Iron Range 0? Or do you finally want to put the ball through the uprights?
Vote for Jim Newberger. With me on your team, you will finally get to kick the ball!
