College golf: CSS women, UWS men lead UMAC tourney

The St. Scholastica women and the Wisconsin-Superior men took first-round leads at the three-day UMAC Championships on Thursday at Pebble Creek Golf Club in Becker, Minn.

The Saints, with four of the top five individuals, shot 369 for a 26-stroke lead over UWS. The Yellowjackets' Ally Busick carded an 11-over-par 83 to sit atop the leaderboard.

In men's action, UWS jumped to a four-stroke lead over the University of Northwestern. The Yellowjackets carded a low round of 308. Joey Cummings of UWS and Mike Vowels of Northwestern tied for the individual lead with rounds of 1-over 73.

CSS is third after shooting a team score of 321.
